There is a place outside universes, a place containing threats that the Guardians of the Multiverse are currently unaware of. Many strange and incredible individuals and creatures roam this vast region. Somehow after the universe ended the Cape of Faces found its way to this place between and was found by Ettlediffle a relatively young humanoid being who is kind and curious. He discovers that he can use the cape in many ways after it helped protect him when attacked by a swarm of Reaps. Eventually he discovers that he can also creating openings to universes which he uses to explore and learn. Although unknown to him, greater powers that would cause harm are observing him and using the openings to advance their own plans.
